U.S. Neutron Accelerator Sets World Record



The $1.4 billion Spallation Neutron Source facility at the Oak Ridge Lab in Tennessee is the world's most powerful accelerator-based source of neutrons for scientific research -- reaching 183 kilowatts this month. The more wattage, the more neutrons, the more researchers can see as they work to make materials lighter, cheaper and stronger.
